Limestone or Calcium Carbonate. is formed mainly by coral reefs. ( and other shell fish) Coral reefs are formed in warn tropical waters of the ocean.

So if you find limestone formations on a mountain the rock was formed in the ocean. and here is a good chance of finding fossil coral.
