Question #56e19
1 Answer
Because it crippled and humiliated the Germans.
Explanation:
The Treaty of Versailles did numerous things.
It took land away from it and used it to created new countries and or add to other countries, they also lost all their colonies around the world which were given to Britain and France.
It stopped them from allowing their military entering the Rhineland a small strip of land along the river Rhine, on the border to France. They also could only have a couple 100,000 men in their army, and no tanks.
They were allowed only defensive weapons like artillery designed for defensive purposes only (for example they had a small cannon which fired a smoke round).
They could only have 6 Naval ships and no submarines.
They also could have no air force.
They were also made to pay £6,600 million, which they paid some of and in the end had to pay in resources.
Most of this triggered the uprising of the Nazi party.
