Actually, a camera just captures the reflection of light. When that light hits the "lens", the image it projects is actually upside down. This is turned around by another lense. Digital cameras use lens that way, but it has an electronic sensor panel to transmit images. That's how they have a screen. Mechanical cameras work the same way,but they have to be developed because the image taken is upside down, and it is just an exposure.
