Explanation:

It depends on the specific application. If it is a carrier of a signal to a specific detector it may have advantages of less interference with its wavelength.

If it is for human communication - depending on human eye perception - then it is not the best choice. A significant proportion of humans have difficulty in optically distinguishing greens and reds (color blind). Thus, the color green may not be recognizable.

A color such as cyan has been found to provide a much better color recognition rate for color-blind persons, while remaining similar to "green" for some "traditional" color schemes.
