Let us first consider the points $(- 4, 19)$ $(-4,19)$ and $(0, 5)$ $(0,5)$

$-$ $-$ as $x$ $x$ increases by $4$ $4$ , $y$ $y$ decreases by $14$ $14$ i.e. $\frac{14}{4} = 3.5$ $14/4=3.5$ for each unit of $x$ $x$

between points $(0, 5)$ $(0,5)$ and $(3, - 5.5)$ $(3,-5.5)$

$-$ $-$ as $x$ $x$ increases by $3$ $3$ , $y$ $y$ decreases by $10.5$ $10.5$ i.e. $\frac{10.5}{3} = 3.5$ $10.5/3=3.5$ for each unit of $x$ $x$
