Well clearly you need the metal, "iron", and the oxidant, "oxygen"..........and these are the 2 elements.

Of course iron oxide is a very broad church; there are simple oxides of iron, FeO, and Fe_2O_3, and higher order iron oxides, i.e. Fe_3O_4, which is a mixed oxide of Fe^(II) and Fe^(III). See here for more details.
