Biosphere can be termed as the largely self regulating zone of life on Earth.

Edward Suess was the first scientist to use the term biosphere to describe the part of the Earth where life exists.
Biosphere includes all the layers of Earth where life exists. Life forms live in every part of the Earth's biosphere, including soil, hot springs, inside rocks, deep underground, in the deepest parts of the ocean and almost about 64 km high in the atmosphere.
It is the global ecological system integrating all living beings and their relationships including their interactions with the elements of the lithosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere. The study of biosphere is the basis for ecology, the study of life and it's interactions with the physical environment.
Any closed self regulating system containing ecosystems in general can be termed as biosphere. Artificial biospheres such as Biosphere 2 and BIOS - 3 are also included.
The biosphere is divided into a number of biomes.
