Explanation:

Sulfates and bisulfates are salts of SO24 and HSO4 (i.e. (O=)2S(OH)O; reasonably the charge is presumed to ride on the oxygen). The parent acids are of course H2SO4 and HSO4.

Metal sulfates tend to be soluble in aqueous media; there are a few exceptions, i.e. notably with metallic dications, M2+.
