Residual is $2$ $2$ .

As the regression line is $y = - 2 x + 17$ $y=-2x+17$ ,

for $x = 7$ $x=7$ we have predicted value of $y$ $y$ is $- 2 \times 7 + 17 = 3$ $-2xx7+17=3$

but we have $y = 5$ $y=5$

Hence residual is $5 - 3 = 2$ $5-3=2$ .
