Chlorophyll is most common example of such compound that absorbs some colors and reflects others.
Explanation:
Chlorophyll is green pigment that is present in chloroplasts of plants. It absorbs all the wave- lengths of light except wave-length representing green color.
Thus chlorophyll absorbs all other colors except green that is reflected back and reaches our eyes. Leaves or other parts of the plant containing chlorophyll thus appear green.
