Capillaries are the smallest blood vessels in the body and convey blood between the arterioles and venules.
Explanation:
They are the site of exchange of many substances with the interstitial fluid surrounding them. Oxygen and glucose pass through capillary walls and enter the cells. Waste products such as carbon dioxide pass back from the cells into the blood through capillaries.
The capillary walls perform an important function by allowing nutrients and waste substances to pass across it.
