A model train with a mass of 6 kg is moving along a track at 12 (cm)/s. If the curvature of the track changes from a radius of 3 cm to 15 cm, by how much must the centripetal force applied by the tracks change?

The change in centripetal force is =2.304N

Explanation:

The centripetal force is

F=(mv^2)/r

m=mass=6kg

v=0.12ms^-1

The variation in centripetal force is

DeltaF=F_2-F_1

F_1=6*0.12^2/0.03=2.88N

F_2=6*0.12^2/0.15=0.576N

DeltaF=2.88-0.576=2.304N
