so in 1-D, `v = u + at`

in 2-D rectangular (x-y) co-ordinates these become:

`vec v =((v_x),(v_y)) = ((u_x),(u_y)) + ((a_x),(a_y)) t`

you can completely generalise by saying that `vec v = d/dt vec r` and `vec a = d^2/dt^2 vec r` and then choose the coordinate system if you like
