Let time taken for walking and cycling journey be $t_{1} and t_{2}$ $t_1 and t_2$ respectively. Since the distance of both the journey be same, $1 \cdot t_{1} = 8 \cdot t_{2} (1)$ $1*t_1=8*t_2 (1)$ and by condition $t_{1} = t_{2} + 1 (2)$ $t_1 = t_2+1 (2)$

Substituting $t_{1}$ $t_1$ in equation (1) we get , $:. t_2+1=8*t_2 or7t_2 =1 or t_2 =1/7 hr :. t_1= 8*t_2=8*1/7=8/7 =1 1/7 hr$
