Can (thou) "beest" and (thou) "art" be used interchangeably?

Generally "thou beest" and "thou art" are interchangeable, but see note below.
Explanation:
"beest" should be used when the subjunctive mood is to be indicated.
For example:
If thou beest my friend, then need I naught for enemies.
