Average rate of change = f(b)f(a)ba, where b is the upper bound and a is the lower bound.

f(x)=secx

f(π4)f(0)π40=sec(π4)sec(0)π4=21π4=0.41420.7854=0.5274

Things to remember:

Review the unit circle

π4=45, degrees and is a special triangle, 45,45,90:1,1,2

cos(π4)=12

sec(π4)=1cos(π4)=112=1121=21=2

cos(0)=1

sec(0)=1cos(0)=11=1
