There are five classes of antibodies or immunoglobulins: IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG, and IgM. They are looking to inactivate antigens that match them by binding to or attaching to them and forming an antigen-antibody complex.

When the antibody-antigen complex is formed the antigen can not cause disease or any other response.
This complex will be removed by macrophage phagocytes.

The antibody is usually Y shaped.
