Number of moles of solute = mass of solute / molar mass of solute
mass is measured in grams and molar mass is measured in g
molar mass is defined as the mass of one mole of a substance in grams.
A solution is prepared by dissolving 18 g of Glucose in 100 g of water. Calculate the number of moles of solute Glucose.
Molar mass of Glucose is 180 g
Mass of Glucose is 18g
number of moles = mass of solute / molar mass of solute
number of moles = 18 g / 180g
number of moles = 1/10 mol or 0.1 mol
