How do you determine the slope of the line (3/4,-2) and (1/4,-3)?

The slope is (change in y) / (change in x).

The change in y is the difference of the y coordinates and the change in x is the difference of the x coordinates:

slope = (Delta y)/(Delta x) = (-3 - (-2))/(1/4 - 3/4)

= (-3+2)/((1-3)/4) = (-1)/(-2/4) = (-1)/(-1/2) = 2
