For each of these you substitute the value for x in the expression.

We can use this rule for exponents to rewrite this problem:

x^color(red)(a) = 1/x^color(red)(-a)

2^color(red)(-2)

1/2^color(red)(- - 2)

1/2^color(red)(2)

1/4

Problem 1: Solve for x = 3
