The sample space is the set of all possible outcomes of an experiment. Therefore, the sample space can be found by listing all possible outcomes.
Example: The experiment consists of flipping two coins. The possible outcomes will be all the pairs head-tail, head-head, tail-tail etc. Let's denote ~head~ by
So, our sample space will be the set { HH, TT, HT, TH }.
