How do you find the function rule if x is -1, 0, 1, 2 and y is 5, 6, 7, 8?

You first compare the y-steps to the corresponding x-steps.

You will notice that they both step up by 1 per step.
So the slope of the function is 1/1=1

Second is to find the y-value for x=0
This gives us the y-intercept 6

So the equation becomes:
y=mx+b=1x+6=x+6 (check the graph)
