slope = - 3 . y-intercept = 36
Explanation:
The equation of a straight line in the form y = mx + c . where m represents the gradient (slope ) and c , the y-intercept , enables slope and y-intercept to be extracted quite 'easily'.
hence rearranging 12x + 4y = 144 , will allow this to be done.
so 4y = - 12x + 144
now dividing both sides of the equation by 4 will give
y = - 3x + 36 , which is now in the required form
hence slope = - 3 and y-intercept = 36
