How do you find the slope and y intercept for x + y = 1?

I would write your equation in a way that allows me to "read" these information directly by isolating y on one side:
y=-x+1 ( I moved x to the right changing sign)
so that you have the Slope-Intercept form:
y=slope*x+(y-intercept)
Now, the slope is the number in front of x, in this case -1.
The y-intercept is the number alone, in this case 1
