This problem can be solved using the slope formula, m = (y_1-y_2)/(x_1-x_2)m=y1y2x1x2

Use the two points given and plug them into the equation. I am using (1,-1) as Point 1 and (-2,-6) as Point 2.
m = (-1--6)/(1--2)m=1612

The double negatives each cancel out to be a positive (addition).
m = (-1+6)/(1+2)m=1+61+2

From here, it is simply addition to completely simplify the expression into a slope.

m = 5/3m=53
