Solution: $k=34$

$x^3 +18 x^2 +k x +4 -: (x+2); x+2=0 or x =-2$ .

The remainder will be zero if we put $x = -2$ in the dividend.

$f(x)= x^3 +18 x^2 +k x +4$

$f(-2)= -8 +72 - 2 k +4 =0$ or
