Intercept on $y$ -axis is $2$ .

Equation of the line joining $(x_1,y_1)$ and $(x_2,y_2)$ is given by

$(y-y_1)/(y_2-y_1)=(x-x_1)/(x_2-x_1)$

Hence equation of line joining $(5,7)$ and $(6,8)$ is

$(y-7)/(8-7)=(x-5)/(6-5)$ or

$(y-7)/1=(x-5)/1$ or

$y-7=x-5$ or $y=x+2$

As the equation is already in slope intercept form, slope of line is $1$ and intercept on $y$ -axis is $2$ .
