How do you graph the equation y=x+5?

Identify that the equation is linear.

There are no exponents or radicals involved.

You can pick two arbitrary values for x and plug them in; plot the points; and draw a line connecting the two.

Or, you can set x and then y to be equal to 0 and solve to get the two possible intercepts.

(0)=x+5

x=5

P1=(5,0)

y=(0)+5

y=5

P2=(0,5)
