To make the y term positive multiply everything by (-1) giving

+4x+16y=4

Subtract #color(blue)(4x) from both sides

+4x4x+16y=44x

0+16y=4x4

Divide both sides by 16

1616×y=416x416

But 1616=1 and 416=14giving

y=14x14
