How do you simplify 11 - 4* (-7)?

When we see an expression like this, we follow the correct order of operations:

Parentheses>Exponents>Multiplication and Division>Addition and Subtraction (PEMDAS)

color(blue)(11-4*(-7)

= 11 - (-28) (We performed the Multiplication first)

= 11 +28 (And then the Subtraction of -28 from 11)

color(blue) (= 39

Multiplication is done before addition or subtraction so
do the multiplication first
4*(-7) = (-28)
and therefore
11-4*(-7)
= 11- (-28)
= 11+28
= 39
