In this equation you can not solve for $y$ $y$ , for there is no $y$ $y$ in it.

But we can surely solve for $x$ $x$ , which goes as follows :-

$(\frac{2 x}{5}) - (\frac{x}{3}) = 3$ $((2x)/5)-(x/3)=3$

$\frac{3 \times 2 x - 5 \times x}{15} = 3$ $(3×2x -5×x)/15=3$

$6 x - 5 x = 3 \times 15$ $6x-5x=3×15$

$x = 75$ $x=75$
