Dividing the first equation by $5$ $5$ (for simplification)
$2 x + 5 y = 11$ $2x+5y=11$
$x + y = 3$ $x+y=3$

Multiplying the second equation by $- 2$ $-2$
and adding to the first

$3 y = 5$ $3y=5$
so
$y = \frac{5}{3}$ $y=5/3$

we get with the solution above $x$ $x$

$x = 3 - \frac{5}{3} = \frac{9 - 5}{3} = \frac{4}{3}$ $x=3-5/3=(9-5)/3=4/3$
