Explanation:

After adding first equation to second,

$- 2 x + y + 2 x + 3 y = 1 + 11$ $-2x+y+2x+3y=1+11$

$4 y = 12$ $4y=12$ , so $y = 3$ $y=3$

Hence,

$2 x + 3 \cdot 3 = 11$ $2x+3*3=11$

$2 x = 2$ $2x=2$ , thus $x = 1$ $x=1$
