Equation of the position a car which follows a rectilinear path is given as

$\frac{x}{y} = \frac{1}{6} + \frac{1}{- 2} t$ $x/y=1/6+1/(-2)t$

Starting point is given by equation for $t = 0$ $t=0$ . To meet the condition we get

$\frac{x}{y} = \frac{1}{6} + \frac{1}{- 2} \times 0$ $x/y=1/6+1/(-2)xx0$
$\Rightarrow \frac{x}{y} = \frac{1}{6}$ $=>x/y=1/6$

From the expression we see that starting point, out of the given choices, is

$(x, y) = (1, 6)$ $(x,y)=(1,6)$
