Slope intercept form is y = mx + b, so the y has to be isolated.

Explanation:

y + 1/4 = -3x - 3/4

y = -3x - 3/4 - 1/4

y = -3x - 4/4

y = -3x - 1

Practice exercises:

  1. Convert to slope intercept form: y + 3 = -1/2(x - (-4/5))

  2. Find the slope intercept equation of the line that passes through (5, -2) and (4,6).

Good luck!
