Slope intercept form is #y = mx + b#, so the y has to be isolated.

Explanation:

#y + 1/4 = -3x - 3/4#

#y = -3x - 3/4 - 1/4#

#y = -3x - 4/4#

#y = -3x - 1#

Practice exercises:

  1. Convert to slope intercept form: #y + 3 = -1/2(x - (-4/5))#

  2. Find the slope intercept equation of the line that passes through #(5, -2) and (4,6)#.

Good luck!
