Acid rain primarily, but also a bigger factor is de-forestation.

Explanation:

Acid rain causes significant ph changes to ecosystems and in particular soil chemistry, which can compromise a trees ability to thrive.

But a more direct threat, and probably larger impact, is deforestation by humans for either commercial timber or clear-cutting to use the land for agriculture.
