Sun is a star

Explanation:

Sun is a star. Stars burn fuel mostly hydrogen to helium and gives off energy in the form of light and heat as a result of mass discrepancies between these two elements. Planets like our Earth are usually made of rock. These planets have an inner core made out of metal which is usually in liquid form. The rotation of the planet along it's axis swirls the liquid metal creating a magnetic field around the planet. Except this planets cannot produce their own energy.
