In US #2000# pounds and in UK #2240# pounds.

Explanation:

There are two types of ton used in different measuring systems.

While in US (and Canada) we have got a shorter ton which is equal to #2000# pounds,

in UK and some other countries, ton is some what bigger and is equivalent to #2240# pounds.
