By definition an x-intercept of 3 is the point (x,y) = (3,0)
and
a y-intercept of 4 is the point (x,y) = (0,4)

The slope is defined as
(Delta y)/(Delta x) = (y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

In this case
slope = (4-0)/(0-3) = -4/3
