It reflected the divisions which emerged after the war.
Explanation:
When the war ended, in 1945, Germany was divided into 4 zones of occupation, British, French, American, and Soviet. Berlin as the capital was divided in the same way.
However divisions between the Soviet Union and her Western allies were already emerging. As far as the Berlin blockade was concerned, Berlin was well within the Soviet zone. In 1948 Stalin blocked off the Western zones within Berlin to pressurise the West.
However an air supply successfully flew in supplies and the Blockade was lifted. However it was a microcosm of the splits which divided Europe for the next 40 years, which in itself reflected the Cold War between the USA and Soviet Union.
