Neutralization is the chemical reaction where an acid and base react to form water and a salt.

E.g. HCl(aq)+NaOH(aq)NaCl(s)+H2O(l)

Explanation:

Neutralization is the chemical reaction where an acid and base react to form water and a salt. This results in a reset in the pH.

Only strong acids and strong bases react together to neutralize, likewise weak acids and weak bases.

Neutralization is also a double displacement reaction - AB+CDCB+AD

E.g. A strong reaction - HCl(aq)+NaOH(aq)NaCl(s)+H2O(l)

E.g. A weak reaction - H2O(aq)+NH3(aq)H3O(aq)+NH4(s)
