understanding the variation through an example :
Assigning random values to
color(red)(x = 2 ,color(blue)(y) = 2/2 = 1 color(red)(x = 4 ,color(blue)(y) = 2/4 = 1/2 color(red)(x = 8 ,color(blue)(y) = 2/8 = 1/4
By observing the trend of increase/decrease of one of the variables with respect to another we can come to a conclusion that the variation is inverse.
As one variable
Looking at a more practical example.
Distance= (Speed)x(Time)
** Speed = Distance / Time **
Here as speed increases the time taken to cover a constant distance then decreases . Thus it is an inverse variation.
