Synaptic vesicles in the axon terminal of a motor neuron contain what neurotransmitter?
They contain acetylcholine.
Acetylcholine is synthesized in the cytosol of the presynaptic axon terminal and stored in synaptic vesicles.
When an action potential reaches the end of a neuron, it triggers the release of acetylcholine from the vesicles through the presynaptic membrane.
The acetylcholine then diffuses through the fluid-filled synaptic cleft to complementary receptors in the post-synaptic membrane.
