The empirical rule: 3413.52.5

Which means that on each side of the mean μ 34% is within 1 standard deviation σ (so 68% is within one σ).

On each side 13.5% is between σ and 2σ

If we add up 95% is between μ2σ and μ+2σ

Since σ=1g2σ=2g

Answer: 100%95%=5%
2.5% weigh less than 88 g and 2.5% weigh more than 92 g.
