the cilia in the trachea and bronchus stop functioning and stop beating and pushing the mucus to the throat. the bronchioles constrict causing bronchitis and the entrance to the alveoli constrict and the shape of the alveoli changes in a way which results in emphysema and of course Tar which is a carcinogen which means it results in cancer
