They are living organisms.They metabolize complex molecules to get energy. They reproduce their own kind.
Explanation:
Plants and animals are similar in many ways. At the most obvious level,they grow reproduce and die.
At the cellular level,they share the same basic pattern of organization.
In metabolic terms too they have share the same biochemical pathways that allows them to break complex molecules to produce chemical energy in the form of ATP.
When we look at reproduction too they are similar. They both produce gametes that fuse to form a zygote. They both have DNA that replicates to produce copies of itself.
Also they are subject to pressures that lead to evolution of new species.
