The passive voice is used to focus on the person / thing affected by an action.
Explanation:
Normally, the performer of the action, comes first and is the subject of the verb, (This is the active form of the verb ). The other person / thing which is affected is the object of the verb.
E.g. : I teach you. ( Here, I am the subject and you are the object).
In passive voice, the person / thing which has been affected is the object of the verb and the performer of action becomes the object.
E.g. : You are taught by me. ( Here, you are the subject and I am the object ).
