Explanation:

First of all, transitive words have two different characteristics where it can be an action verb or with a direct object.

For example, an action verb is something that expresses a doable activity such as want, drive, eat, etc.

For a direct object: cereal, car, pen, house, etc. However, sometimes direct objects cannot be followed after an action verb because its intransitive (see below).

Also, the verb can be intransitive if no direct object follows an action verb. For example, went, lie, sneeze, sits, etc.
