Metric unit conversions are completed to convert a measurement made in one metric unit to another metric unit.
For example, in a lab conducted using butane gas, students may measure the volume of a gas in units of mL (based on measurement tools used) but need to convert the volume to L to complete a calculation as part of their analysis of experimental data.
Here are some videos which demonstrate the technique of dimensional analysis which can be used to perform conversion calculations.
Hope these help!
