Demography is the statistical study of the size, structure, and distribution of a population. This includes studying the number of births and deaths a population has as well as how that population changes over time.
For example, you could do a demographic study of your town's birth and death rates over the past 100 years to see if the population is growing. Or you could look at the various ages people who watch a certain tv show. You could look at the infant mortality rate, or the number of infants that do not survive past the first year, to better understand access to health care.
